Scott Hull Associates Dayton, Ohio Assignment: Krispy Kreme Jay Jung of Krispy Kreme was in the process of developing store graphics for Krispy Kreme's US, UK and Australian stores when an email from Scott Hull Associates arrived. It showcased Larry Moore's images for the Agenda Restaurant in Denver. The result: Krispy Kreme commissioned Scott Hull Associates to create large-scale murals for the global store brand. "We used the email addresses from ADBASE," Hull said. "About every two weeks, we send out what we call 'Brain Snacks.' It's basically just a snippet of a creative idea. We sent out the fact that we had just done this job for a restaurant in Denver and Jay called us to commission Larry to do some interior displays for Krispy Kreme." "ADBASE takes brand building to the next dimension." Ongoing email Brain Snacks, along with regular mailings, sometimes numbering in the neighborhood of 10,000 pieces, have kept visitors coming back to the Scott Hull Associates web site to the tune of nearly four million hits per year. That level of traffic has stayed fairly constant, despite the increase in email activity out there, according to Hull." "What I like about ADBASE is that it's very streamlined. It saves us a tremendous amount of time, in terms of keeping things updated," Hull said. "It's easy to use and very functional." Hull maintains a steady pace of promotion for his artists. "The consumer's world is a very crowded place. You've got to do everything you can to stand out from the crowd, and frequency is everything." "Our competition is not necessarily other illustrators. Our competition is the fact that today, art has become a commodity. 'AD' no longer means 'Art Director.' It means 'Art Downloader.' It's no fault of theirs it's basically because of client demands and timelines. It's just the nature of the beast right now," Hull said. "So the question becomes how do we do a better job of selling the experience of art?" Read more ADBASE Success Stories |
